Cuttack: In an appalling incident, a six-year-old girl was brutally raped in Trisulia area under Baranga police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district. The minor girl, who suffered severe hemorrhage, is battling for her life at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Confirming the incident, Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena told the media that the Commissionerate Police have arrested the accused from Cuttack and registered a case under the POCSO Act. After the victim’s parents registered a complaint with the Barang police on Tuesday late night, three teams raided various places and arrested the accused on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, the victim, who sustained severe injuries, was first admitted to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishubhawan). However, as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital.
According to reports, the parents of the victim, who hail from Nayagarh, are labourers at a nearby brick kiln where the gruesome incident occurred. The accused hails from Jharkhand and is also a labourer at the brick kiln.
The police are now examining whether the accused is an adult or minor.
