Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Odisha next month to attend the second anniversary celebrations of the BJP government in the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Thursday.
Majhi said preparations for the event have already begun after the Prime Minister gave his consent for the visit.
“During my recent visit to Delhi, I had invited the Prime Minister to visit Odisha. We have received a green signal from him. We have now begun preparations for the event,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
The BJP formed its first-ever government in Odisha after the 2024 Assembly elections, ending the BJD’s 24-year rule in the state. Mohan Charan Majhi took oath as Chief Minister on June 12, 2024, along with 15 ministers.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier attended the first anniversary celebrations of the BJP government at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, where he inaugurated the event and described Odisha as the “shining star” of India’s cultural heritage.
With the Majhi government set to complete two years in office, the Prime Minister is expected to once again participate in the anniversary programme.
Recently, Majhi had visited New Delhi and met Prime Minister Modi, during which he formally extended the invitation for the proposed visit to Odisha.
