Cuttack: Cuttack Police have arrested Biswajit Malik, who slit the throat of his cop wife Bishnupriya following a family feud on Wednesday. Biswajit attempted suicide after killing his wife but was saved and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition yesterday.
Speaking to the media today, Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena said that Biswajit is undergoing treatment at the ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital. Zone 3 ACP and Lalbagh police station officer reached the hospital on Thursday to assess the health condition of the accused. They met the doctors and requested the hospital superintendent to allow them to interrogate the accused.
Police said that Biswajit would be sent to jail custody after his recovery.
On Wednesday, a case was registered in Lalbagh police station based on the complaint of the deceased’s brother. Along with this, the five-year-old daughter of the couple, who was in police custody, was handed over to her brother, said DCP Jagmohan Meena.
Biswajit and Bishnupriya married in 2019. According to reports, the relationship between the two was not good and Bishnupriya wanted a separation. On Wednesday, Biswajit came home and started a quarrel with his wife. As the quarrel intensified, Biswajit slit his wife’s throat with a knife in a fit of rage. Next, he tried to end his life by slashing his throat but was rescued.
