Bhubaneswar: The supply of potatoes from West Bengal to Odisha has become normal following a meeting between the chief Ministers of both States.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed it through X.
Majhi met with his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee today in New Delhi on the sidelines of Niti Ayog Meeting and discussed the ongoing potato crisis in the State due to short supply.
To tackle the temporary shortage, Odisha’s Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister conducted a thorough review of the situation in storage facilities and inspected godowns. Majhi said that the government has taken necessary measures to contain potato prices and resolve the short supply at the earliest.

CM Majhi took to social media platform X to announce that the state government is working diligently to ensure a steady supply of potatoes to meet the demands of the people. This move is expected to bring relief to consumers who are facing difficulties due to the shortage.
It is pertinent to mention that both the Chief Ministers are in New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog meet, which is underway under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The price of the essential tuber reached Rs 50 per kg in the state after West Bengal restricted the supply of potatoes to Odisha. Trucks carrying potatoes were prevented from crossing the border by West Bengal police which slowed supply to wholesalers in the state.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Friday reviewed the situation and warned of stringent action against hoarders. The Minister asked retailers not to sell potatoes beyond Rs 32 per kg.
