Bhubaneswar: India’s renowned badminton coach Pullela Gopichand called on Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at his office here on Sunday and discussed the development of infrastructure for badminton in the state.
Chief Minister later took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, “I spoke with Gopichand about various aspects of badminton infrastructure development in the state, keeping in mind the current and future needs.”
Gopichand set up the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation in Hyderabad with the commitment to develop a state-of-the-art, high-performance training facility and coaching and producing world-class badminton coaches and players, in the process helping India win more medals and international trophies.
The foundation through the academy has also been instrumental in conducting world-class badminton events like the India Open Grand Prix 2009, the BWF World Badminton Championship 2009 and Badminton Asia Team Championship 2016.
