Bhubaneswar: An on-duty Odia police constable died in a road accident in Tamil Nadu.
The deceased identified as Pramod Kumar Majhi was earlier posted at the Fifth Indian Reserve Battalion in Boudh.
Hailing from Dharmabandha village of Nuapada district, Pramod joined Odisha Police in 2009.
It is learnt that 30 units of Odisha Police have been deployed in Tamil Nadu to ensure violence-free election.
Pramod was busy in election duty when a vehicle hit him from the rear. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition by locals. He, however, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment there.
Police DG Arun Kumar Sarangi condoled the death of Pramod.
Pramod’s death has sent a shockwave in the police fraternity.
