Bhubaneswar: A self-proclaimed spiritual leader was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman disciple at his ashram at Mathakargola under Kamakhyanagar police station in Dhenkanal district
The accused Baba identified as Madhu Mangal, alias Madan Mohan Parida, has been forwarded to court after medical examination.
The victim, employed at the ashram’s eatery, Sri Govinda Bhojanalaya, filed a complaint with the Kamakhyanagar Police, accusing the Baba of rape. The assault reportedly occurred after the woman’s father entrusted her with responsibilities at the ashram’s dining hall 17 days prior, during which Madhu Mangal forcibly established an illicit relationship with her.
In an attempt to suppress the case, the Baba allegedly offered the victim Rs 50,000 as hush money. Following the complaint, the police sealed the ashram and arrested Madhu Mangal.
The scientific team has initiated an investigation. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the locality.
