Bhadrak: A minor dispute over Rs 2 escalated into violence on Sunday evening when six miscreants opened fire at a betel shop owner and his son in Nalgunda village under Chandabali police limits in Bhadrak district.
According to sources, the accused arrived on two motorcycles and purchased cold drinks from Satyawan Behera’s shop. When Behera charged Rs 12 instead of the usual Rs 10, the group allegedly abused and assaulted him.
The situation turned more serious when the miscreants drew pistols and fired shots at the shopkeeper. Behera and his son managed to flee the spot unharmed.
A complaint was later lodged at the Chandabali police station. The complainants also alleged that the attackers stole cash from the shop before escaping.
Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and began an investigation. They recovered one live cartridge and one spent bullet from the scene.
