Bhubaneswar: Shovana Mohanty assumed office as the newly-appointed Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women on Monday.
After assuming the role, Mohanty has promised to take a tough stance on issues affecting women’s safety. She stated that no one is above the law and vowed to scrutinise all matters carefully.
“Women’s safety requires strict measures under the law. I have just taken charge, and I will examine everything thoroughly. Those found guilty within the scope of the investigation will be punished,” she said.
Mohanty also mentioned that the government has taken swift action in cases like the Balasore incident.
