Bhubaneswar: The Similipal Sanctuary, known as the second-largest biosphere reserve in Asia for its stunning natural beauty, reopened to tourists on Monday after a two-day closure due to heavy rainfall.
The sanctuary had been closed on December 21 and 22 because of unexpected unseasonal rains. However, with the weather improving, it reopened to visitors on December 23, 2024.
Now, tourists can enjoy a Jungle Safari in the core area of the sanctuary, riding in open Jimny vehicles. There are also arrangements for overnight stays in guest houses at Kumari, Ramtheerth, Gudugudia, and Jamuani. Additionally, visitors can experience nature camping at Gudugudia, but advance booking is required for this.
It is important to note that Mayurbhanj district has been experiencing a cold spell with dense fog over the past few days.
