Bhubaneswar: High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore in India Simon Wang called on Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo at his Lok Seva Bhavan office here on Thursday.
Speaking at the pre-scheduled meeting Singh Deo said that Odisha is actively in contact with Singapore to attract investment and increase economic cooperation.
“We want a long-lasting partnership with Singapore which will give priority to mutual interest,” said Singh Deo.
After the Kalinga War Buddhism spread far and wide from the Middle East to the Far East. Odisha has several Buddhist monuments and a long coastline.
Singh Deo proposed the Singapore government to invest in these sectors.
At the meeting, High Commissioner Wang said that Odisha has an investment-friendly state. Wang said that they have plans to invest in various sectors in Odisha.
He further said that as of now they have invested 15 billion American Dollars in Odisha and 160 billion in India in different sectors.
Wang informed that they are interested in increasing investment in the tourism and port sectors and sought the cooperation of the state government in this direction. He appealed to the Minister to take Singapore as a partner country for investment in the coming days and invited the Minister to visit Singapore.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo welcomed Wang’s proposal and sought Singapore’s cooperation for investment in various sectors. The meeting focused on investment relations between Odisha-Singapore, economic growth of the state and in improving the living standards of the people.
