OUAT’s Centre For Wildlife Health Becomes India’s First NABL Accredited Lab For Wildlife Forensics

Bhubaneswar: The Centre for Wildlife Health at the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar has become the first laboratory in the country to receive NABL Accreditation for wildlife forensics and veterinary testing.

The lab has been accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards, making it the first facility in India to get NABL recognition specifically for wildlife forensics. Calling it a proud moment for Odisha, the Chief Minister’s Office posted on ‘X’ that the achievement strengthens the state’s capacity in wildlife health surveillance, disease diagnostics and forensic support.

The CMO added that the accreditation reaffirms the state’s commitment to scientific excellence under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Officials said the NABL accreditation will enable the centre to provide internationally recognized, reliable and credible testing services.

It is expected to play a key role in wildlife crime investigation, disease outbreak monitoring and conservation efforts across the state and the country.
