Bhubaneswar: With Mahashivaratri approaching on Sunday, the Commissionerate Police have issued strong warnings against the use of fake entry passes at the historic Lingaraj Temple. Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh has cautioned devotees and the public not to fall for fraudulent claims circulating on social media about the sale of passes.
The Commissioner emphasized that temple authorities have issued passes exclusively to servitors (sevayats) for the Jagar Yatra and related rituals. Each genuine pass features a secure QR code for verification, making duplication or faking nearly impossible.
“There will be no scope for fake passes,” CP Singh asserted, adding that strict measures, including legal action, will be taken against anyone found possessing or using counterfeit passes.
The alert comes after some sevayats reportedly showcased fake passes on social media, drawing the Commissioner’s attention and prompting heightened vigilance.
Devotees are urged to rely only on official channels and avoid any paid pass offers. Security has been tightened around the temple premises, with traffic plans and QR scanning in place to maintain order and sanctity during the auspicious festival.
