Sambalpur: Three persons were injured in a violent clash between two groups of students at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on late Sunday night. While the precise reason behind the clash is yet to be known, three house surgeons were injured in the incident.
According to reports, the house surgeons and PG students of VIMSAR attacked each other during the annual function of the UG Students’ Association on Sunday night over some previous enmity.
The VIMSAR authorities and police held discussions with both groups till late in the night but failed to reach an amicable solution. The injured house surgeons of the hospital have lodged a written complaint with the police and threatened to cease work if the guilty were not punished.
VIMSAR Director Bhabagrahi Rath said that a function was in progress when the students of two groups clashed with each other over some matter. The situation worsened when one group attacked the other injuring three students. On being informed, the authorities reached the spot and controlled the situation. However, everything is fine now, he added.
