Bhubaneswar: Three students from Odisha have left for Japan to participate in the prestigious Sakura Science Education Camp, an academic exchange programme sponsored by the Japanese government, under the initiative of the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA).
The selected students—Raju Pradhan, Sushree Tejaswini, and Takeshwari Sindhu—earned their place in the programme after excelling in a national-level talent examination conducted for high school students across India.
Accompanied by Cuttack district Science Inspector and science columnist Sagarika Rout, the students departed for Delhi by train on June 25 and will travel onward to Japan by air.
During the 10-day educational programme, the students will gain exposure to advanced scientific and technological innovations through academic interactions and hands-on learning experiences before returning to India.
Senior officials from the School and Mass Education Department extended their best wishes to the students ahead of their departure. Joint Director Santosh Kumar Rout was present at the railway station to see them off, while OSEPA Secretary Dr. N. Thirumala Naik and Project Director Ananya Das expressed confidence that the students would make the most of the opportunity and bring laurels to the state.
The Sakura Science Education Camp is aimed at fostering scientific temperament, promoting international academic exchange, and providing young students with exposure to cutting-edge research and innovation.
