Puri: Train services to and from Puri will witness temporary changes due to major infrastructure development work at the Puri Railway Station. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the execution of important yard remodelling works, including construction of ballastless tracks in the station yard and development works at Platforms 7 and 8.
To facilitate these essential works, several trains will be short-terminated or short-originated between March 11 and May 16, 2026.
According to the railway authorities, many long-distance trains arriving at Puri will terminate at nearby stations such as Sakhigopal, Bir Purushottampur, Khurda Road and Malatipatpur during the specified period. Similarly, trains originating from Puri will start their journeys from these stations instead.
Major trains that will be short-terminated at Sakhigopal on selected dates include Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Puri Express (12145), Gandhidham–Puri Express (12993), Kamakhya–Puri Express (15644), Gandhidham–Puri Express (22973), Tirupati–Puri Express (17480), Sealdah–Puri Duronto Express (22201), Valsad–Puri Express (22909) and Sambalpur–Puri Intercity Express (18303).
Similarly, trains such as Puri–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express (12146), Puri–Gandhidham Express (12994), Puri–Kamakhya Express (15643), Puri–Tirupati Express (17479), Puri–Sealdah Duronto Express (22202), Puri–Valsad Express (22910) and Puri–Sambalpur Intercity Express (18304) will originate from Sakhigopal instead of Puri on specified dates.
Likewise, some trains including Indore–Puri Express (20917), Sri Ganganagar–Puri Express (20471), Kamakhya–Puri Express (15640) and Jaleswar–Puri MEMU (68441) will be short-terminated at Bir Purushottampur, while the return services will originate from the same station.
In addition, trains like Rourkela–Puri Express (18125) and Talcher–Puri MEMU (68413) will be short-terminated at Khurda Road, and the return services will originate from there.
The Howrah–Puri Express (12837) will be short-terminated at Malatipatpur, while the return Puri–Howrah Express (12838) will originate from Malatipatpur during the same period.
To facilitate passengers, bus services will be arranged between Puri and the short-termination/short-origin stations.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest status of their trains through the NTES or Railway Enquiry System before commencing their journey.
