Subarnapur: The dead bodies of two unidentified youths were recovered from the Mahanadi Ferry Ghat under Subalya police station in Subarnapur district on Tuesday.
The fire brigade recovered the bodies and handed them over to the police. It is suspected that the deceased were involved in the ganja trade.
Police sources said a raid was conducted in the area on Monday, during which two accused were arrested along with three vehicles laden with ganja. Two other suspects managed to abscond. There were rumours that the absconding accused had jumped into the river.
The identity of the deceased has not been established so far. Police have seized the bodies and kept them in the morgue for further investigation. An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday, officials said.
