Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable example of veterinary care and timely medical intervention, veterinarians at the Rourkela Veterinary Polyclinic successfully performed an emergency Caesarean section and complete uterus removal surgery on a pregnant cat after complications arose during delivery.
According to veterinary officials, the cat was brought to the clinic after experiencing a prolonged and delayed delivery. An X-ray examination conducted by the medical team revealed the presence of multiple kittens, making the situation critical and requiring immediate surgical intervention.
A team of expert veterinarians carried out the complex procedure under general anesthesia. The surgery involved both a Caesarean section and a complete removal of the uterus to safeguard the life of the animal and prevent further complications.
Doctors said the operation was successful and the cat’s condition is currently stable. The animal is under observation and is gradually recovering following the surgery.
The successful treatment has been appreciated as an example of the growing capability and preparedness of veterinary healthcare services in Odisha, particularly in handling emergency and high-risk animal cases.
