Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Communication and Press Information Bureau (PIB), Bhubaneswar, recently organised a workshop on “Preventive Vigilance” under the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” as part of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2025. The event emphasised the importance of integrity, transparency, and ethical governance in public life.
Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General (Region), CBC & PIB, Bhubaneswar, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the significance of self-discipline, teamwork, and trust in driving institutional excellence. He stressed that true vigilance begins with self-discipline and the courage to prioritise duty over desire.
Kalyan Chakravarthy, Joint Commissioner, CGST, Bhubaneswar, emphasised the vital role of preventive vigilance in ensuring transparency and good governance. He noted that corruption is not just an ethical lapse but also an economic threat that hampers development.
Guest of Honour Dr. Deepak Das, Associate Professor, Cardiology Department, SCB Medical College, discussed the link between ethics and mental well-being in professional life. He emphasised that a transparent, value-based work culture builds both institutional credibility and personal harmony.
Abhishek Mishra, RNU Head, Doordarshan, stressed that vigilance begins with self-awareness and personal accountability. He urged officials to lead by example with honesty and fairness.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Question & Answer session on strengthening vigilance practices in daily work. The event reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and ethical governance, emphasising that vigilance is a continuous collective responsibility.
