Bhubaneswar: Vigilant villagers in Solpata village under Nayagarh Town police limits thwarted a robbery attempt late Tuesday night, apprehending one suspect and leaving three villagers injured.
According to reports, a group of unidentified miscreants targeted the village with the intention of carrying out a dacoity. As the intruders tried to break into homes, the residents raised an alarm and confronted them. In retaliation, the accused allegedly hurled crude bombs, injuring three villagers who were immediately rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
Acting swiftly, the villagers chased and managed to capture one of the suspects. The accused was reportedly beaten by locals before being handed over to the Nayagarh Town Police. The remaining members of the gang fled the scene and are currently absconding.
A police team rushed to the spot soon after the incident, secured the area, and initiated an investigation into the robbery attempt.
