Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department on Friday issued a red warning for nine districts and an orange warning for six districts in Odisha due to the impact of Cyclone Dana.
As per the IMD report, districts under red warning include Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar. These districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall (20-30 cm) under the impact of Dana.
Puri, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Boudh districts have been issued an orange warning where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.
IMD issued a yellow warning to Ganjam, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, and Kandhamal. These districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall.
Under the influence of the cyclone, the entire state will experience rainfall over the next 24 hours, with some areas receiving over 20 cm of rain, according to the regional weather office.
It is pertinent to mention that severe cyclonic storm Dana, made landfall in north Odisha, between 1:30 am and 3:30 on Friday, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to the region
