Bhubaneswar: A young person died after being attacked by a swarm of honey bees in Baliguda town of Kandhamal district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as B Maheshwar Rao Dora aka Pintu, a resident of Khajurinalla Sahi in Baliguda.
According to reports, Maheshwar was returning home this morning after playing at the local stadium. As he entered his house, a large swarm of honey bees suddenly emerged from a beehive on the roof and attacked him, repeatedly stinging him on the neck and other parts of the body. He collapsed immediately.
Locals and family members rushed him to Baliguda Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
It is learnt that Dora ran a stationery shop at Baliguda for several years. His sudden and untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over the Baliguda market area.
