Leopard Attack

Narasinghpur (Cuttack): A youth was critically injured when a leopard entered his farmhouse in Anantaprasad village under Narsinghpur West range of the Athgarh division late on Saturday night. The leopard was killed during the encounter.

The injured youth has been identified as Shubhanshu Bhol. The incident took place around 1 a.m., when the animal reportedly entered the farmhouse.

According to reports, Shubhanshu tried to fend off the leopard with a knife during the attack, which resulted in the animal’s death. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. He is currently under observation.

“My son called me around 1 a.m., requesting a 108 ambulance and asked me not to inform his mother. He later told me that he had attacked the leopard with a small knife, which led to the animal’s death,” said Shubhanshu’s father while speaking to the media.

Athgarh ACF Manoj Patra confirmed the incident.

“Around 1 a.m., we received information about a leopard entering the farmhouse. When Shubhanshu opened the gate of his room, the animal attacked him. During the struggle, he managed to kill the leopard. He has been referred to Cuttack for treatment. Investigation is underway,” he said.
