Sundergarh: A 10th standard girl student died after falling down from the roof of a hostel here on Friday. The tragic incident was reported from Patuadihi under Lefripada police limits here.
The deceased was a student of the local Panchayat Samiti High School. While the school authorities termed it as an accident, the family members of the girl said she committed suicide because of the physical torture inflicted by one of her teachers.
Lefripada police have sent the body for autopsy and investigating the case. A complaint has been registered by the deceased girl’s family in this connection.
The principal and hostel warden were detained for questioning. By late evening, following a preliminary probe, the principal of the school was placed under suspension.
