Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Jeypore today sentenced former Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Lamtaput block Swarnava Das to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of two years and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 after convicting her for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant for her appointment as Anganwadi Worker in 2009.
Further, Das in default of payment of fine has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months.
Das is currently posted as CDPO, Kotpad block in Koraput district.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Das from service following her conviction, said an official press release.
