Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to urban infrastructure development, the Odisha Cabinet today approved the result of the bidding process for the implementation of a 24×7 Water Supply Project covering Town Planning Schemes (TP-1, TP-2 & TP-3) under the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
The project will be executed by the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract basis, including Operation & Maintenance for five years. This initiative aims to ensure continuous, equitable, and reliable drinking water supply to residents, institutions, and commercial establishments in these rapidly developing urban zones.
With growing urbanization and rising demand for civic infrastructure, the project is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life in the planned townships while maintaining the city’s environmental balance.
Key Components of the Project:
Water Tapping: From the existing Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) at Ghatikia (which receives treated water from the Water Treatment Plant at Naraj on Mahanadi River).
Clear Water Gravity Main: 15,095 metres.
Distribution Network: 9,585 metres.
Elevated Storage Reservoirs (ESRs): Construction of 8 reservoirs with a total capacity of 9.60 Million Litres.
SCADA & Automation system along with allied works.
The capital cost of the project, based on the financial bid of the technically qualified bidder, has been approved at Rs 112.31 Crore (including GST). The work will be executed by the selected agency — M/s. Shivam Condev (P) Limited & Shree Hari Infra Projects (P) Ltd JV, Bhubaneswar.
The project is targeted for completion by April 2028.This 24×7 water supply scheme is a key part of BDA’s vision for planned urban growth and is expected to set a benchmark for modern, efficient water distribution infrastructure in the state capital.
