Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday urged Chartered Accountant students to maintain professional excellence and integrity, saying success built on honesty and ethical values is lasting.
Inaugurating the National Conference of Chartered Accountant Students at KIIT Auditorium, the Governor said knowledge gives skills, but character builds credibility. He advised students to balance professional growth with personal values and inculcate discipline, humility, compassion, and service.
Calling the gathering a convergence of future financial leaders, entrepreneurs, policy advisors, and nation builders, the Governor said they will contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. He appreciated the Bhubaneswar branch of the Eastern India Regional Council and the Board of Studies (Operations) of ICAI for promoting professional excellence and continuous learning among students.
Highlighting the role of Chartered Accountants, Dr. Kambhampati said CAs are guardians of transparency, accountability, financial discipline, and corporate governance. They play a vital role in strengthening public trust and supporting economic development.
With rapid advances in AI, machine learning, data analytics, blockchain, and fintech, he said future CAs must go beyond accounting to emerge as trusted advisors, risk managers, sustainability experts, and strategic partners in decision-making. CAs will be key to realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 by supporting startups, strengthening MSMEs, ensuring clean governance, and facilitating investment, he added.
The Governor noted immense opportunities in Odisha across industry, infrastructure, IT, renewable energy, ports, logistics, and tourism, and encouraged students to explore the state’s expanding career landscape. “The dreams, dedication and strong decisions of the students will shape not only their future but also the future of our country,” he said.
He also urged students to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice on “Economic Self-Defense” by using Electric Vehicles and installing rooftop solar systems. Referring to the government’s ethanol-blending initiative, he said the agriculture sector will play a key role in its success and create new opportunities for farmers. He asked established CA firms to encourage employees to adopt EVs and solar power.
