Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorm, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds over 13 districts of Odisha.
According to the warning issued at 1:30 pm, these weather conditions are very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Deogarh, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore within the next three hours. Winds with speeds reaching up to 40 kmph are also expected during the thunderstorm.
The regional weather office has issued a yellow warning to these districts.
The IMD has advised people, especially those in the above-mentioned districts, to keep a close watch on the weather for any worsening conditions. Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds.
