Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old youth allegedly jumped into the Devi River after leaving his scooter on the bridge. The reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
The incident was reported from Sikhar Ghat Devi River bridge under Naugaon police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.
The missing youth has been identified as Sailesh Padhi (22), son of Shikhar Padhi of Tihuda village.
According to information, Shailesh reached near the Sikhar Devi River bridge on his scooty early this morning. Later, he allegedly parked his vehicle on the bridge and jumped into the river. Locals grew suspicious after seeing the scooty parked on the bridge for a long time. They immediately informed the Naugaon Fire Services and Police.
On being informed, police and Fire Service personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation in the river to trace the missing youth. The exact reason why Shailesh jumped into the river is still unclear.
Till the last report came in, the rescue operation is underway.
