Mayurbhanj: As incidents of man-animal conflict continue, two persons were killed and three critically injured in separate elephant attacks in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district during the last 24 hours.
A herd of elephants entered Mayurbhanj a few days ago and are on a rampage in the region. One elephant strayed away from the herd and trampled one person to death in Paktia Sonpuria village under Shulingpada police limits. The deceased has been identified as Raghunath Hembram of Paktia Sonpuria village. The tusker also injured Luski Soren of Pokharia village and Sarveswar Singh of Tadki village.
In another incident, a woman of Ulidihi village in Gholmuha panchayat under Morada police limits was killed in a tusker attack at around 6.00 am on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Sakra, wife of Turam Hembram. Later, the elephant attacked and severely injured Suga Mahant of Anua village. The injured have been admitted to Forest Department PRM Medical College and Hospital.
