Chandipur: India on Thursday successfully test-fired its Medium Range Ballistic Missile Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur in Baleshwar district.
The Ministry of Defence said the launch validated all operational and technical parameters and was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.Agni-4 is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor. It has a strike range of up to 4,000 kilometres and is capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
The successful trial adds to India’s string of missile tests this year. Earlier, India had also carried out successful trials of the Agni-Prime and Agni-3 missiles. Defence officials said the test further strengthens India’s credible deterrence capability.
