Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar has recorded the highest number of traffic rule violations in the state over the past two-and-a-half years, with 13,844 challans issued and 144 vehicles seized, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena informed the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
Jena provided the figures in response to a question raised by BJD MLA Pratap Keshari Deb.
Kataka stood second among the districts, with 10,844 challans issued and 291 vehicles seized for traffic violations during the period.
Across Odisha, authorities issued challans against 4,15,159 traffic violators and seized 1,812 vehicles, collecting a total of Rs 15.16 crore in fines, the minister said.
