Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the situation after the landfall of Cyclone Dana again on Friday morning. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, DG Police YB Khurania and Special Relief Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh were present at the meeting.
The Chief Minister also spoke to the District Collectors of the affected districts via video conference.
He discussed the progress of preparations to deal with the cyclone with the Collectors of 11 districts – Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurdha and Jajpur.
After the review meeting at the SRC office, Majhi said, “Cyclone Dana made landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra and the process continued till 7.00 am, today. Due to vigilant administration and preparedness, there has been no causality. Our government has achieved its ‘zero causality’ target.”
Due to the strength of the wind, trees were uprooted in various places and the roads were blocked. All roads will be cleared by 1.00 pm today, the Chief Minister said, adding, that District Collectors have been directed to carry out damage assessment. In addition, power supply will be normalised in the affected areas by this evening.
Senior ministers and officials are coordinating relief efforts and monitoring the situation closely, he said, adding that 571 families are still in waterlogged conditions due to the cyclone.
