Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of heavy rainfall over western Odisha for the next two days, with an orange warning issued for several districts on July 7.
According to the IMD midday bulletin, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, and Nuapada on July 7.
Additionally, a yellow warning has also been issued for July 7 for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, and Kalahandi, where isolated heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places.
The intensity of rain is likely to reduce on July 8.
Going by IMD data, only Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts will remain under a yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall on that day.
The weather office has asked district administrations in the orange alert zones to monitor low-lying areas and stay prepared for possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
Residents have been advised to keep track of local weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours.
