Bhubaneswar: The Titilagarh police arrested an employee of a Jana Seva Kendra, for charging money to fill ‘Subhadra’ Yojana forms, despite the process being available completely free.
Akash Sahu was receiving Rs 100 each from the beneficiaries.
Sahu was arrested after Titilagarh Block Development Officer (BDO) lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Akash and arrested him. During interrogation, Akash admitted to charging money for filling out the scheme forms.
According to Titilagarh SDPO Ankita Kumbhar, preliminary investigations revealed Akash’s involvement in illegal activities. The incident is still under investigation, and the SDPO assured that strict action will be taken against those involved.
“We arrested him after registering a case against him on the report of the BDO. He was charging Rs 100 from each beneficiary to register them in Subhadra scheme which is available free of cost. We are further investigating the matter. If any others are found involved in it, we would arrest them,” the SDPO said.
“We appealed to the beneficiaries not pay anything at CSC for Subhadra registration,” she added.
The ‘Subhadra’ Yojana is a woman-centric government scheme. The application forms are available free of cost at Anganwadi centres, Jana Seva Kendra and Mo Seva Kendras across the State.
