Bhubaneswar: In yet another setback to the State Congress, youth leader and former MLA Ansuman Mohanty resigned from the primary membership of the party on Wednesday.
He sent his resignation letter to PCC President Sarat Pattanayak.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of Congress party with immediate effect. This may also be treated as my resignation from the post of president of Kendrapara District Congress committee,” his letter read.
Mohanty was elected to Odisha Assembly from Rajnagar constituency in Kendrapara district in 2014.
The reason behind his resignation has remained unclear. Ansuman was a young face of Congress in Kendrapara district.
He is yet to announce his next course of action.
Ansuman’s exit from the grand old party assumes significance as the Assembly and Lok sabha polls are doing the rounds.
Two days ago, former MLA from Atabira Nihar Mahanand vacated the party. He had sent his resignation letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. He also resigned as the Bargarh district chief of the party.
