Keonjhar: The district administration in Keonjhar has extended financial and administrative support to the family of a deceased woman following a shocking incident in Dianali village under Patana block, where her brother had reportedly faced hurdles in accessing her bank deposits.
In a press note issued Tuesday, the administration said it acted promptly after learning about the plight of Jitu Munda, brother of the deceased Kalra Munda, prioritising humanitarian concerns over procedural delays.
An immediate financial assistance of ₹30,000 was provided to Jitu Munda from the District Red Cross Fund in line with Chief Minister’s citizen-centric -‘Lok Seva’ approach.
To address documentation issues, officials facilitated the application process for both the death certificate and legal heir certificate. The death certificate has already been issued on a fast-track basis by the medical officer, the release said.
Ensuring swift disbursal of the deceased’s bank savings, the local tehsildar personally coordinated with bank authorities to hand over ₹19,402, including interest, to the beneficiary.
The administration attributed the incident to a lack of banking awareness in remote areas and said steps have been initiated to prevent recurrence. Local officials have been directed to adopt a more sensitive approach while delivering government and financial services.
A detailed inquiry has also been ordered to ascertain any administrative lapses.
Reiterating its commitment to public welfare, the administration urged citizens not to hesitate in approaching authorities or the Collector’s grievance cell in times of difficulty.
