Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Sarat Kumar Giri, OAS -A (SB), LA (General) and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition in Keonjhar Collectorate for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
Giri, who serves as the Deputy Collector and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition, was caught red-handed in his office while taking the bribe from a complainant for disbursing the compensation amount of his land acquired for NHAI.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Giri, including his office and residence, as part of a disproportionate assets (DA) inquiry.
Balasore Vigilance has registered a case against Giri under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
