Nuapada: Security forces on Tuesday unearthed a Maoist arms and explosives dump during a joint anti-Naxal operation in Nuapada district.
The security forces recovered firearms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ammunition, and other materials.
The recovery was made near Barpadar village in the Patahara Reserved Forest under the jurisdiction of Boden police station during a search operation jointly carried out by the District Voluntary Force (DVF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about a Maoist arms dump hidden in the forest.
According to Nuapada Superintendent of Police Amritpal Singh, the seized items included two country-made guns, one carbine, two tin bombs, 83 rounds of ammunition, eight gelatin sticks, batteries, gunpowder, wires, magazines, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), medicines, and Maoist booklets.
The SP said security personnel are continuing intensive combing operations in the forest to locate and recover any additional explosives or hidden caches.
