Titilagarh: In a shocking incident, a minor girl from Bhurshaguda village under Sindhekela Police Station limits in Bolangir district was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by a group of youths.
According to police, the accused youths contacted the minor girl at night and lured her to a nearby forest, where they allegedly committed the crime. A case has been registered at Sindhekela Police Station based on the complaint filed by the victim.
The victim was immediately brought to Titilagarh by the police for medical examination. Bolangir Superintendent of Police Abhilash G. reached Titilagarh and is personally supervising the investigation.
During the probe, police have arrested one of the accused, identified as Nepal Chhura, a distant relative of the minor girl. The SP said Chhura had been blackmailing the victim through social media before committing the offence.
“The accused was arrested within five hours of receiving the complaint. He will be produced before the court tomorrow,” SP Abilash G. stated during a press briefing.
Further investigation is underway to trace the remaining accused involved in the case.
