Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a proposal to increase the monthly salary of schematic junior teachers.
According to an official communiqué, the monthly salary of these teachers has been increased from Rs 11,100 to Rs 16,000. Along with this, the amount of EPF for this category of teachers has also increased from Rs 1,443 to Rs 1,950. With this decision, the state government will now pay Rs 17,950 per month to each schematic junior teacher, who were earlier being paid Rs 12,543.
It is worth noting that currently there are 13,740 schematic junior teachers, who are employed at the primary and upper primary levels throughout the education programme, working in the state. For this, the state government will bear an additional Rs 89.15 crore per year.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that this will benefit the junior teachers of this category and this will improve the quality of primary education.
