Bhubaneswar: A crucial meeting on the integration of various software systems for cess collection under the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (OB&OCWW Board) was held today at the P&C Department Conference Hall, Lok Seva Bhawan. The meeting was chaired by Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Odisha.
Chithra Arumugam, Principal Secretary to the Government, Labour & ESI Department, highlighted the necessity of integrating the software systems with the Nirman Shramik Portal. This integration aims to ensure seamless deposit of cess amounts collected by cess collectors at the source to the OB&OCWW Board within the stipulated timeline. The move is expected to significantly enhance the cess collection efficiency of the Board in the coming years.
The meeting saw the participation of key officials, including Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing and Urban Development Department, and Commerce & Transport Department. Other attendees included Indramani Tripathy, Labour Commissioner, Odisha; N. Thirumala Naik, Vice Chairman of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Special Secretary, Finance Department; Additional Secretaries from the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water (PR&DW) and Revenue & Disaster Management (R&D) Departments; Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC); and senior officers from various departments and the OB&OCWW Board.
The integration of software systems is a strategic step toward streamlining cess collection processes, ensuring transparency, and improving the welfare of construction workers across the state.
