Bhubaneswar: BJP Rajya Sabha nominee Mamata Mohanta filed her nomination on Wednesday. Mamata went to the Assembly and filed her nomination papers.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was the first proponent of Mamata’s nomination.
Since the ruling BJP has the required number of members, Mamata will certainly go to the Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha elections will be held on September 3, if necessary. Votes will be counted and election results will be announced at 5 pm today.
Notably, Mamata recently resigned from the post of Rajya Sabha member and left the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). She joined the BJP a day later.
The BJP announced Mamata as the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate on Tuesday.
