Bhubaneswar: In a moving gesture of international solidarity, celebrated sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a six-foot-tall sand sculpture on Puri Beach to express solidarity with the people of Venezuela affected by the devastating earthquake.
Pattnaik, known globally for his intricate and socially relevant sand art, crafted a six-foot-tall sculpture conveying messages of compassion, hope, and support. The artwork prominently features the appeal: “PrayersForVenezuela, Help the Victims.”
Sharing the creation on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Pattnaik wrote: “Heartfelt prayers and solidarity with the people of #Venezuela affected by the devastating #earthquake. Through my sand sculpture at Puri Beach, Odisha, I share a message of compassion and hope.”
Through the artwork, Pattnaik conveyed heartfelt condolences to families who lost their loved ones and offered prayers for the speedy recovery and well-being of those injured and displaced by the disaster.
The sand installation was created with the assistance of students from the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute.
Expressing his concern and support, Pattnaik said, “My heartfelt prayers are with the people of Venezuela during this difficult time. Through this sand art, I express solidarity with the victims and their families. May they find strength, hope, and support.”
Widely recognised for using sand art as a medium to raise awareness on humanitarian, social and environmental issues, Pattnaik has represented India at more than 65 international sand sculpture championships and festivals across the world and has earned several prestigious awards and accolades.
