Bhubaneswar: In view of the heavy and continuous rainfall forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district administrations of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Sambalpur districts have announced a complete closure of all schools today.
As a precautionary measure to ensure student safety, all government, government-aided, private schools (Primary to Higher Secondary), and Anganwadi centres in these four districts will remain closed for the day, with classes fully suspended.
In Mayurbhanj district, the District Education Officer issued a formal order in pursuance of directions from the Collector & District Magistrate.
The notification states that while students must not attend school, all Headmasters, Headmistresses, Principals, and Teachers shall report to their respective institutions as usual.
They have been instructed to disseminate information about the closure to students and parents/guardians through WhatsApp groups, phone calls, SMS, and other available communication channels.
Similar orders have been issued by the respective district administrations in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Sambalpur in line with the IMD’s warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The closures come as Odisha continues to experience the impact of a low-pressure system, with alerts in place across several districts.
