Bhubaneswar: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls underway in Odisha has achieved a significant milestone, with enumeration forms distributed to 99.14 per cent of voters across the state, according to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
As part of the Election Commission’s drive to make electoral rolls cleaner, more accurate and better organised, large-scale distribution, collection and digitisation of enumeration forms is being carried out on a war footing throughout the state.
Official data available till 6 PM on June 15 showed that enumeration forms had been distributed to 3,31,13,184 voters, covering 99.14 per cent of the electorate. With the distribution phase nearing completion, the administration has shifted its primary focus to digitisation of voter records.
So far, digitisation has been completed for 1,43,16,029 voters, accounting for 42.86 per cent of the electorate. Officials said the process would be further accelerated in the coming days to meet the prescribed timeline.
The revision exercise aims to update electoral rolls by identifying and removing the names of deceased and shifted voters. Following completion of digitisation and verification, a revised and error-free final electoral roll will be published.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) engaged in the exercise have been directed to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe. The Election Commission has set June 28, 2026, as the target date for completion of distribution, collection and digitisation of enumeration forms.
The CEO’s office has appealed to all eligible voters to cooperate with BLOs conducting door-to-door visits and to submit their completed enumeration forms before the deadline.
Officials cautioned that failure to submit the forms within the stipulated period could lead to inquiries and further action in accordance with electoral rules concerning the inclusion of names in the voter list. Voters have therefore been urged to complete the process at the earliest.
