Bhubaneswar: Eminent sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Saturday came up with a huge sand sculpture to create awareness about voting awareness Puri Beach in Odisha.
Patnaik created a sand sculpture on 2,000 sq ft area to spread awareness on voting with the message “Chunab ka Parba, Desh ka Garv”.
Since mango is the favourite fruit for people during the summer, the sand artist used mangoes in the sand sculpture to attract the voters to participate in the voting underway for six Lok Sabha and 42 assembly segments.
The sand artist used around 5 quintals of mangoes for the huge creation. It took him about five hours to complete the sculpture. The students of his institute joined hands to complete the sand sculpture.
Earlier Pattnaik had created a sand art on Puri beach to create awareness among first-time voters on March 10. He created awareness on voting with the message ‘Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye’, which translates into ‘My first vote for the nation’.
His objective behind coming up with the sand work was to inspire young voters and how their voting role helps shape the future of our country.
Patnaik has, so far, participated in more than 65 International sand art competitions and festivals around the World and brought laurels to the state.
Apart from awareness on voting, his sand sculptures have generated awareness on, HIV/AIDS, Covid-19, voter awareness, plastic pollution, environment conservation, global warming and terrorism.
