Deogarh: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her sister-in-law over a trivial dispute over firewood at Nilabairni Sahi under Debagarh Municipality in Deogarh district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Jyotsna Bhoj (55), widow of Pradyumna Bhoj.

The accused is Geeta Bohoj (45), wife of Pratap Bhoj.

As per reports, the incident occurred earlier today, when a dispute erupted between Geeta and Jyotsna over firewood. The altercation escalated, resulting in Geeta attacking Jyotsna with a sharp object.

She was rushed to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital in an unconscious state, where doctors declared her dead.

Soon after the incident, residents of the locality detained the accused Geeta.
