Youth Electrocuted To Death Atop Goods Train While Stealing Coal

Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a youth was electrocuted to death while trying to steal coal from a goods train wagon Gurudijhatia railway station in the Athagarh area of Cuttack district on Friday morning.

While the identity of the deceased youth is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he is a resident of Chha village in the area.

According to reports, a goods train transporting coal was stationed at the Gurudiajhatia railway station yard in the Athagarh area. The deceased youth had secretly climbed atop one of the wagons to steal coal. He somehow came in contact with the live high-voltage overhead wire and died on the spot.

The charred body of the youth was lying at the spot for a long time till the Railway Police sent it for post-mortem. The RPF and Railways have launched an investigation into the incident.
