Bhubaneswar: In a major anti-corruption action, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of former panchayat secretary of Jodakudar Gram Panchayat under Lathikata block in Sundargarh district in a corruption case.
Alexander Ekka, former Panchayat Secretary of Jodakudar Gram Panchayat, was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment by the Special Vigilance Judge, Sundargarh on Friday for misappropriating office cash and rice allotted to Jodakudar GP. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
According to Odisha Vigilance, Ekka was charge-sheeted under Section 13(2), 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 409 of the IPC.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will move the competent authority to stop the pension of Ekka.
